Nara Organics

We worked with Nara Organics to design a baby tracking app for parents.

New features in app

Solid feeds

For the solid feeds feature, I designed a new flow for logging solid meals, making it easy for parents to record what their child tried and add notes along the way. To keep things feeling cohesive, I drew a set of custom illustrations for popular solid foods that matched the app's existing visual style. For foods that didn't make the "popular" list, I created a set of generic food type illustrations to make sure every meal could still be captured with a personal touch.

Users can log solid foods, with the ability to add additional details for each food logged.

Postpartum tracking

Postpartum care often gets overlooked. This feature was all about giving birthing parents a simple way to check in on themselves. I drew a collection of illustrations for postpartum tracking, covering everything from daily activities to mood details, designed to feel gentle and approachable. From there, I built out tracking flows for the full range of postpartum needs like water intake, food, medicine, and moods, so parents could log what they needed without friction.

Both of these features were direct requests from parents who wanted the app to grow with their needs!

Postpartum tracking allows for birthing parents to track their own sleep, meals, medications, moods, etc privately within the app.

I drew new illustrations necessary for solid food tracking, postpartum tracking, and various other new features added.

Updating the design system

The original design system was built before auto layout and many of Figma's current features existed, so when Nara went through a rebrand it felt like the right moment to rebuild it properly from the ground up. I updated the system to reflect the new brand colors and rebuilt the color and type systems using variables for consistency and flexibility. For components, I used slots to reconstruct activity tiles and edit and entry sheets, bringing everything up to modern standards and making the system much easier to work with going forward.

I rebuilt complex components in the new design system to allow for better scalability, and easier building for designers and devs. (This image is showing modular components for the activity cards on the left, and how those components can be used for the rows in each individual card state on the right.)
